Wind Sprites is a tongue in cheek rendition of the super force summer southeaster that blows across the Cape Peninsuala much of the year round. The place is Mostert’s Mill – an historic windmill in Mowbray, Cape Town, South Africa. It was built in 1796 and is the oldest surviving and only complete windmill in South Africa. Anyone who has visited there on a summer’s day will smile at the memory of the wind. It was a favourite point of access to the mountain walks that Aswell Rowe frequently used.
